About me
Dr. Amy Boyles serves as the Assistant Director of the History & Social Sciences Secondary Educator Licensure Program at Northern Illinois University. She holds a BA in history from Illinois Wesleyan University, a M.Ed. in educational leadership from American College of Education, and an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from Northern Illinois University.
Amy teaches and advises students in the licensure program, working primarily with students in their first clinical experience and teaching the secondary methods class for students in the semester before they begin student teaching.
Prior to coming to NIU, Amy taught high school social studies in at Streator Township High School for 12 years. She primarily taught civics and U.S. history, but also taught world history, economics, modern U.S. history, and history through film. She then worked for three years at the Bureau/Henry/Stark Regional Office of Education teaching professional learning to in-service teachers and administrators. Her research interests include teacher evaluation, educational policy, and the school improvement process.
