Cultivating Your Allies: Creating Collaborative Relationships With Families

Objectives: The goal of this session is to equip educators with techniques to build and maintain a culture of teamwork and respect with families at every stage of the year.

Description: This session will cover common opportunities to communicate with families, including first days of school, parent-teacher conferences, IEP/504 meetings, leveraging social media for family & community engagement, as well as responding to common parent concerts and de-escalation techniques. Educators will leave the session with techniques and resources they can implement in their practice.

Description: This session will focus on using inclusive language, establishing culturally informed classroom norms, examining images and texts used in the classroom, and allowing students to have their voices heard. Educators will leave the session with techniques and resources they can implement in their practice.

Description: This session will explore using problem-based learning and embedding SEL lessons into curriculum to help students take ownership of their learning and ignite curiosity. These techniques will lead to students who feel personal agency in their education. This is more important than ever in the 21st-century classroom.
